What makes it
metallic.

Metallic epoxy isn't a color - it's a chemistry. A craftsman layer that behaves like molten stone.

Not paint. Not a pattern. A process.

Metallic epoxy combines clear or tinted 100% solids epoxy with mica-based metallic pigments - fine, reflective flakes that catch and redirect light. During application, the pigments move, swirl, and cluster inside the wet epoxy as the installer manipulates them with rollers, brushes, and air blowers.

As the epoxy cures, that movement freezes in place. The result is a permanent 3D depth effect - floors that look like molten metal, polished marble, flowing lava, or deep water. The pattern changes as you walk around the room because the reflective pigments catch light from different angles.

Why it's our premium tier

  • Hand-applied - no machine can create this finish. Each floor takes a skilled installer 3-4 days.
  • Truly unique - we can show you samples of similar work, but your floor will never exist anywhere else.
  • Deep visual impact - reflective pigments create apparent depth of 2-4 inches, even though the coating is under 1/4 inch thick.
  • Full color control - combine up to 3 metallic pigment colors in one floor. Custom color matching available.
  • Same durability as standard epoxy - scratch, stain, and chemical resistant. Sealed with polyaspartic topcoat.

Where it shines - literally

Metallic epoxy works best in indoor spaces with good lighting: luxury garages, showrooms, retail storefronts, high-end basements, home bars, and salons. It's dramatic, but it requires the right environment to show off. In a poorly-lit garage with no windows, you'll see only the color. In a well-lit space, you'll see movement and depth.

This isn't the right finish for a functional work shop or a high-traffic warehouse. For those, flake or polyaspartic systems offer better performance per dollar.

What's included

Color consultation
On-site review of color options and light exposure to recommend the right pigments.
Diamond-ground prep
Same industrial prep we use on every job - CSP-3 surface profile, crack repair, primer.
Tinted base coat
100% solids epoxy tinted to your chosen background color. 8-10 mils thick.
Metallic coat (hand-applied)
Clear epoxy with 1-3 metallic pigments, manipulated by hand for movement and depth.
Polyaspartic topcoat
High-clarity UV-stable finish. Locks the pattern in. Adds scratch resistance.

Where metallic
belongs.

Four spaces where metallic epoxy earns its premium price. If your project fits one of these, it's worth considering.

Luxury Garages

Showroom-quality finish for car collectors and enthusiasts. Turns the garage into a display space.

Retail Showrooms

Dealerships, jewelry stores, high-end boutiques. Creates an immediate impression the second customers walk in.

Finished Basements

Home bars, theater rooms, bonus spaces. Dramatic focal point that wood and carpet can't compete with.

Salons & Spas

Restaurant and hospitality spaces where atmosphere sells. Easy to clean, hard to forget.

What it
costs.

Metallic is our premium tier. The price reflects the craftsmanship and materials - but starts more accessible than most homeowners expect.

Questions
answered.

The things homeowners ask us before investing in a metallic floor.

Metallic epoxy is a premium decorative floor coating that combines clear or tinted 100% solids epoxy with mica-based metallic pigments. The pigments move during application to create swirling, marble-like, or lava-like patterns with visible 3D depth. Every floor is hand-applied by a skilled installer and no two are ever identical.
Metallic epoxy floors in Denver range from $9 to $15 per square foot installed. A 2-car garage (around 440 sq ft) runs $4,000 to $6,600. Pricing depends on three factors: the complexity of the color blend (single vs multi-pigment), whether custom color matching is required, and the size of the floor (larger jobs have a lower per-foot rate). We provide a firm written quote after the on-site visit.
You choose the color palette, base tone, and style direction. The specific pattern emerges during application as the metallic pigments flow and interact with the epoxy. That's what makes every floor truly unique. We can show you samples of similar installations for reference, and an experienced installer can guide the movement toward the look you want, but no two floors will ever be identical. Most clients love the surprise element.
Metallic epoxy installations take 3 to 4 days on site. Day 1: diamond grinding and prep. Day 2: tinted base coat. Day 3: metallic coat (the art). Day 4: polyaspartic topcoat. Each layer needs full cure time before the next goes on - rushing this is how floors end up with bonding issues. You can walk on it 24 hours after the final coat and park on it after 72 hours.
Just as durable. Metallic epoxy uses the same 100% solids industrial-grade epoxy as our standard garage floors, plus the same polyaspartic topcoat. The only difference is the metallic pigment layer adds a decorative finish - it doesn't change the structural integrity. Chemical resistance, scratch resistance, and hot-tire performance are identical. Expect 15-20 years of life with proper care.
No. The metallic pigments themselves are mica-based minerals that don't photodegrade. The polyaspartic topcoat protects everything below it from UV damage - and polyaspartic itself is UV-stable, unlike standard epoxy. Your floor will look the same in year 10 as it does on install day. This matters especially in Colorado, where UV exposure is 25% stronger than sea level.
Standard metallic epoxy has a high-gloss finish that can be slippery when wet. If slip resistance is a priority (for example, in a garage where snow-covered cars drip), we add a fine aluminum oxide or polymer grit to the topcoat. It reduces gloss slightly but dramatically improves grip. We'll discuss this during the on-site estimate and recommend based on your use case.
